The Old School

Imposing and unnoticed

Abandoned and alone

Walked by, so many times a day

Fake flowers in the window

Never grow tired, always live

Lost property stones of flint

Tempting the fate of a thief

Playground games lost in time

Fallen behind a locked gate

Pristine white socks and a straw hat

Stand outside the door and ring the bell

Years later peer through a parallel window

Haunting but not haunted

The old school of forgotten youth

Empty of promise of heart and mind

Full of memories to seek and find
