Another girl

Posted: September 25, 2013 in Poetry

Did you think I wanted to be
that girl’s betrayal, her enemy?
Did you say to her
the things you save for me.
When I question us,
do you remember we?

You won’t remember lies,
instead you show me clouds in memory’s skies.
You sweep up truth
and leave it out to rot.
I didn’t ask for this
but to be another girl is what I got .

Left out in the rain, another girl,
caught up in this, a twister’s twirl.
Did you think I wouldn’t notice?
That I wouldn’t want for more?
Did you fail to see me,
too busy shutting the other girl’s door?

I’m not just another girl
I am the girl.
The one who showed you a mirror,
you took a fleeting glance.
The broken tiny pieces smashed,
are another girl’s other chance.
